A light detox

I've felt like a balloon for too long now so I finally decided that it is time for a small detox. I am doing a light version of it though.

Basically a detox is to get rid of all the junk that you feed your body and is usually done by only eating fruits and drink smoothies. I love to do it but can usually not stay away from food for too long. I am a keen cook and want to enjoy food, not starve myself. But luckily enough I also enjoy healthy food so it is usually not too much of a sacrifice for me.

It is often recommended to do a weekend detox but as I decided to start yesterday I guess I'll skip that :) So today was the first day. When detoxing you should leave out coffee but as I am too attached to my coffee I decided to go easy on myself.

I am planning to stick to this for at least a week with the goal of loosing a few lbs or inches around the waist and after the week is finished to continue a healthier lifestyle. With todays light start I am not exactly detoxing but doing kind of diet version instead. I started breakfast with coffee and two small slices of bread. For lunch a salad, at 3pm a fruit salad with yogurt and now for dinner I am baking potatoes and will have a salad with that. My plan is that for the rest of the week my breakfast will not consist of bread and most meals will only be salads, either fruit salads or vegetable salads.

I didn't have any afternoon coffee today and I have been drinking a lot of water and no sugary snacks or cakes have been eaten either so I think I have been pretty good. Now lets see how tomorrow turns out...

Building faith

I find that the days when I neglect or put my prayers on the side I get lazy. Sometimes life gets so busy that faith is left on the side. "No time for praying" How is it possible to say that there are no time for praying? How can I not find the time to pray?

When life gets busy and my time for prayer seems to become less and less,a s happens every now and then, I always feel I need time to build up my faith again. Not that I have lost it, it is always there, but it has been neglected and can easily be "forgotten". And that is the time when we are vulnerable and can easily become sad and let unimportant things become important or become a hindrance in our life.

For me, building faith is not only about reading The Bible, it's about praying and talking the time to listen. Many times we only read but we aren't listening to what His Words are telling us. Reflecting over life and searching for answers in the Bible is something that works very well for me when I feel my life is becoming a bit sad.

We are never totally full of faith, I believe we always need to build our faith and be open minded and listen to His Words. By building our faith daily we also make sure that when rough times hits us we are prepared.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strenght, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is trustworthy to be praised, so shall I be saved from my enemies. PSALM 18:2,3

A day at the park

Yesterday my neighbor, her kids and another friend of ours went to a nearby park and spent a few hours there, it was very nice. The kids ran around and played for a few hours while we adults chatted about this and that. We had a little picnic which was lovely.

Before going I was a bit worried that Baby C would run out on the street but he stayed far from it so I didn't have to worry. The other kids are older than he and they looked after him as well.
When we came there weren't too many families there but after a while the park was almost full. It was so nice to see how all the kids were enjoying themselves and having fun. When I came home I told my husband we really should go to the park more often.

It was an absolutely lovely day and I hope we will go again soon!

Are your kids eating right?

Handling a tired kid is no parents dream after a long day of work.
Getting our kids to eat better will not only help the kids but also us.

Kids that eat nutritious and healthy food...

* Have more energy
* Concentrate more easily
* Stay full for longer
* Can keep their ideal weight easier
* Maintain teeth and gum in a healthy condition.

A few tips on why we should encourage our kids to eat more vegetables and healthy food.
And it would probably not be so bad for us either...

Please be quiet so I can scream!

I am normally a quite calm mother, I try not to raise my voice too much but keep it on a normal level. Well the other day I just couldn't help myself.

Baby C was just fussying so much that it became unbearable to hear his voice. Everything was wrong according to him and he screamed and talked to me in a very inappropriate manner.As he kept screaming I just couldn't help myself and screamed back at him. Be quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeet! It was very loud but, it was also very effective.

I felt so bad about using my voice in such a way but it was also a nice release of the anger that was boiling up inside of me. After that he was surely quiet. It might not be the best solution to deal with fuzzy kids but once in a while it can be a very effective solution, as I saw from own experience.

I once did a voice experiment in the woods. We were suppose to just scream, as much as we wanted to. And we did. And it was so good. It was a powerful experience that I unfortunately have not had the privilege to experience again.

Perhaps I should seek out some woods...

How do you deal with fussy kids? Any tips?
